Committing …

Today, I am committing to a new year. You might say I am a few days late, but it’s taken me a few days to figure out which things were the highest priority for 2010, and then it took me another couple of days to write this down. I am very excited about the things I am committing to do this year and I am just excited to start writing about them.

I’ve known for a while that I wanted to focus on expanding my creativity in the new year, and not just trying new design ideas or techniques, but pushing my creative muscles by working on different kinds of projects, drawing more and designing more fun things outside of the usual things I design day-to-day. And I love type, those are always my favorite projects to work on and complete. Choosing typefaces, organizing phrases and words, setting type, altering type to create personality, this list could really go on and on. Which made it obvious to me that this project should be type-based.

So to accomplish this I am going to design one fancy type project a week that is somehow related to something going on in my world … it might be an invite, a postcard or just a type illustration and then at some point I will post those projects here. In fact I already finished my project for this week but it’s a little bit of secret until the end of the month. But I am very excited about it and can’t wait to share!
